J.R.'s current gaming activities
9:59 PM

Right now I'm playing Devil May Cry (the first one) and Saints Row.

DMC1 is sooo hard to play since I'm so used to DMC3. DMC1 just feels so inferior to DMC3. DMC1 feels so much slower, and the controls are all messed up. I also have to go into the menu to change weapons. My combos seem pretty limited thanks to stuff like this. Also, the continue system sucks. There are these items called "yellow orbs." Essentially, they are continues, only you've got a finite supply of them. If you die in the middle of a mission, you can either use a yellow orb to retry from the last room you entered, or you can reset the console and start from the beginning of the mission. What pisses me off is that I don't want to use the yellow orbs! The missions are pretty short in this game (at least so far), so if I die, it's not really that big of a deal to star the mission over again (plus, I get to keep all my red orbs..I think...so I might as well keep going through it to upgrade Dante). You're forced to use the yellow orbs after you die. But you can choose to reset the game without saving after using an orb, but that just takes longer than it should to just restart the mission. If you happen to beat a mission and save after using a yellow orb, that orb is gone for good. It's pretty annoying.

And yeah, I guess the game is pretty difficult, though a lot of the times I take damage because I press the wrong button, since I'm so used to DMC3's controls, and for some reason, DMC1's controls are all switched around. In DMC3, Triangle is attack , X is jump, and Square is shoot. In DMC1, Triangle is jump, Circle is attack, and Square is shoot. So I guess I'm gonna have trouble when I start playing DMC3 again!

I'm thinking that the reason DMC1 seems slower than DMC3 is 'cause I'm so used to playing DMC3 on Turbo mode. :P
