I have a Wii, btw
11:48 PM

I haven't updated this in a while. Reason: Wii. I've started playing video games again...hardcorely. Yes, I'm using that as an adverb.

Seriously, I started playing Twilight Princess today at around 4. I didn't stop until it was around 11. According to my play history recorded on my Wii message board, I had around 6 hours and 50 minutes logged in that day. WHOAMG, that's crazy. Before, I could play games like that all the time. Then after before, my attention span got shorter and I found myself bored with a game within an hour or two. Then..the Wii and Twilight Princess came into my life...

But seriously, I went through TWO dungeons today... And I was stuck in one dungeon for like..3 hours 'cause it had a really stupid puzzle where you had to backtrack through the whole dungeon while escorting an object, and I had to redo a few puzzles, then when I finally go to the boss door...OOPS! I didn't get the boss key! So I had to go BACK and redo some more puzzles to get the damn key. -_-

But yeah, I've finished 6 dungeons now. Wooooo. This game is awesome.

Oh yeah, I also discovered I suck at UT now, 'cause I tried playing again today and kept getting owned online. =[ But I'm sure I could still own most Paris people at the game. >_>

lol @ Gamespot
8:38 PM

Twilight Princess has been rated at Gamespot. What did they give it? An 8.8. A GREAT score, but lol @ all the Zelda fanboys going crazy about it. It's kinda disheartening that a Tony Hawk game got a higher score than Twilight Princess, but whatever. No one likes the guy who reviewed Zelda, either: Jeff something-or-another. In a live Wii preview show on Gamespot, Jeff seemed really uninterested and very cynical about the Wii. And of course, they get him to review the Wii games. LOL.

Well, we all know Matt Cassamassassaassassinasdlkfjlkj from IGN is gonna give Zelda at least a 9...hopefully.

I'm still gonna get Zelda. Hell, if they gave it a 7.0, I'd still get it.

Okay, I just found out that this Jeff guy is also the guy who gave Majora's Mask an 8.3. Yeah, great score, but Majora's Mask is greater than great! It's greater than Ocarina of Time, damn it! This Jeff guys phails.
Preparing for Wii.
5:39 PM

There's one thing that bugs me about the Wii: it requires more space than other consoles. They system is the smallest of the three, but if you really wanna have fun, you're gonna wanna need space to make your swings in Wii Sports. So today I re-arranged my room.

Now I've got room to play Wii Sports! ..and also room to walk around, I guess.

Also, I want this shirt.

I actually got to play one today at Gamestop. All they had was Excitetruck, though. It wasn't "amazing", but it was pretty cool.

Yes, whammy!
7:02 PM

Using a most wonderful guide, I managed to repair my broken whammy bar!

I took a picture of the insides of the guitar, in case I forgot how to put something back together. Those who are squeamish of computers and hardware, look away.

While, it's not the same as it was before it broke, it works, and it feels a bit smoother, but not as fun to whammy on, but at least it works. Woooo!

In other news, I FINALLY beat Cowboys from Hell on Expert. Now I just need to take out Bark at the Moon, and I've beaten Guitar Hero on Expert. I got sooo close. I got 95% of Ozzy's song before I failed. Grrr. I'll get there someday. Bark isn't as hard as Cowboys.

No whammy. =[
8:57 PM

I've had Guitar Hero for a few months, and the whammy bar finally pooped out on me. Well, it still works, but I have to "reset" the bar everytime I use it. Like, I press it down, and it stays down, so I have to pull it back up again.

The Guitar Hero documents that came with the game warned me that the bar would break with excessive use. That's so lame.

I'm sad. Maybe I'll save up my money and buy that expensive, yet pretty, wireless one from RedOctane.

lol @ this MMORPG. Notice something "wrong" there?
What I've been playing: Prey (PC)
1:38 AM

Prey is a nifty little game. It's a first person shooter that runs on an improved Doom 3 engine. Sure, it's your standard "Native American vs. alien race" FPS...or is it?

There are quite a few nifty features in the game. One being portals. You'll find portals all over the place in this game, and they're not those silly "neat particle effect that you step into and you teleport to another part of the map" kinda portals. They're a "look into the portal and you can actually see what's on the other side" kind. There are some setups where a portal is facing another portal, so you can see yourself, and even kill yourself by shooting through the portal and at yourself, though it's not recommended.

Another neat thing is gravity. In the game, you'll find some switches you can shoot on the walls or ceilings. When shoot these switches, suddenly that wall or ceiling becomes the floor! It's really disorienting and confusing, as changing gravity should be, so it's really intriguing and makes for good puzzles. There are also parts where you'll be able to walk on the certain paths that climb up walls and onto the ceiling. Enemies will often be on the ground or end up walking on another surface, so it's cool how you can shoot at them from the ceiling or while on the wall.

Another feature would be "spirit walking", but it's not as cool as walking on ceilings or portals. You can "leave" your body in spirit form and traverse to different areas your physical body could not reach. Makes a few neat puzzles. The cooler thing is, though, is that you can't get a "Game Over" in the game. Everytime you die, you end up in the "spirit world" and must defeat the dead spirits to get your life or spirit energy back. After a certain amount of time in the spirit world, you're sucked back into the real world and you continue where you left off. Maybe it makes the game easy, but it's really better this way, as you'll hardly ever have to deal with quick-saves and won't have to re-load the level when you die.

Is it better than Half-Life? Eh, not really. The combat is kinda boring. The guns aren't that great, and the AI could be smarter.

But, I absolutely LOVE the Doom 3 engine. Sure, at first I was like "Source Engine pwns the Doom 3 engine!" ...but that was before I discovered the dreaded "stutter bug" that Source Engine games have. Doom 3, Quake IV, and Prey have higher system requirements than Half-Life 2. But which games run smoother and almost flawlessly? Doom 3, Quake IV, and Prey! With Source Engine games, I get a few stutters hear and there when it has to load sounds or textures. A lot of hard drive access occurs, making the game lame, plus level load times are a bitch. Doom 3 engine games, though...wow. I can run everything on high and the games run super smooth, with very few hitches, and only a little dip in framerate if there's too much going on. And the games look beautiful! The lighting in the games really adds to the atmosphere...unfortunately, most of the games are all "sci-fi space ship + organs." But whatever. Prey and Quake IV show that the Doom 3 engine can do open-environments.

Just check out these screenshots of Prey. Yes, these are screenshots I took while playing on my PC. It's almost as if I don't need an Xbox 360 or PS3 to get "next-gen" graphics.

My spacing out...
9:09 PM

J.R. became bored today. You know what that means! That's right, he decided it was time to make another MySpace layout!

I did this 'cause I was bored, and I wanted to get my mind off things. Perhaps the look of the page depicts "rage." Maybe when I design graphics, the imagery I create is actually a reflection of my emotions. Or maybe not. Who cares?

But yeah, click here to check out what I've got so far.
I've been too emotional today...

And as always, the emotion and trouble stems from a girl. How creepy is that?

lol @ Robot Chicken
10:48 PM

OMG, that was the funniest Robot Chicken skit I've ever witnessed...

Edit: Here's the actual video of the skit. Watch it and laugh!

I saw Saw III
3:26 PM

Haha, not an original title, but whatever.

Before that, though, Jordon and Kelsey and Dillon and Tyler came over with Guitar Hero II. We rocked to that. Great fun. I need money to purchase it and school them all at it.

Then at 10, I saw Saw III with Jordan. She invited me. I never really planned on seeing it myself, so I had previously read spoilers online for the movie. It was an okay movie. Nothing super awesome (like Snakes on a Plane, which was super awesome). Less gorey than I expected, which pleased me...'cept for one scene. Yeaaah, that was pretty gross.

But, hmm..yeah. I'm hungry. I wanna order a pizza.
